Process mining as a bank-wide capability by setting up a Center of Excellence (CoE) with the help of the Process Mining Task Force.

Reference Case

Client profile

Client: ABN AMRO
Industry: Banking & Financial Services
Process: Establishing a Center of Excellence

Challenges

In the past, process mining was used as a standalone capability within a few departments via a single-user license. Acquisition of a license for the Execution Management System (EMS), a Celonis Cloud service, paved the way for bank-wide usage of Celonis.

Various teams were set up to work with the new process mining license each with an aim to expand process mining within their respective business unit. However, they struggled to find enough business commitment mainly due to the limited clear upfront value.

This resulted in a relatively limited number of active users and a low level of enterprise-wide adoption.

"Combining the value enabling CoE with the Process Mining Task Force quickly increases the adoption of process mining within ABN AMRO while making process improvements at the same time.”

Solution & Outcomes

Establishing a Center of Excellence within ABN AMRO

To facilitate this broader usage, a Center of Excellence (CoE) has been established, consisting of a team of engineers and analysts along with the necessary technical infrastructure. After establishing clear objectives and governance, Bright Cape provided the necessary resources and training, encouraged collaboration and knowledge sharing, and aligned the Center of Excellence activities with organizational goals.
