10 years of Bright Cape: driven by curiosity toward impactful data solutions

10 years of Bright Cape: driven by curiosity toward impactful data solutions

Eindhoven, 30 july 2025 – Ten years ago, Bright Cape started in the attic of the Petrakerk. Today, it’s a mature organization located in the heart of Eindhoven. With a solid position in data solutions through data engineering, data analytics, data strategy, process mining, and HDI.

This year marks Bright Cape’s 10th anniversary; who better to reflect on this journey than founder Serge Beniers himself?

“What began as an idea, fueled by curiosity and a passion for technology, has grown into a company with 50 professionals and more than 500 projects completed.”

Serge Beniers

Founder Bright Cape

The beginning: "Just the two of us in the attic of the Petrakerk"

In 2014, Serge took the first steps toward what would become Bright Cape. “We started with a mission: to use technology to contribute to societal challenges, such as an aging population. And at the same time, to show what data can truly achieve in practice.”

The company’s first projects were in the financial services sector, with data engineers working for clients such as KPMG, BDO, and ING.

Early success and rapid growth

The period between 2015 and 2020 was one of pioneering, trial and error, and rapid growth.

“We worked hard and took bold steps,” Serge shares. “We participated in requests for proposals for Celonis implementations at ABN AMRO and Medtronic, and we wonb from the larger consultancies! That trust gave our team a major boost, and it’s something we’re incredibly proud of. It really accelerated our growth.”

In 2016, Bright Cape became an official Celonis partner, this marked a milestone. Process mining became a new growth pillar. The team expanded quickly, and Bright Cape moved from the Petrakerk to the High Tech Campus. With the support of European subsidies, also launched its first innovative projects.

Ideas ahead of their time, but never wasted

Bright Cape was never afraid to experiment. From avalanche-predicting drones to self-driving pallets, many ideas were simply ahead of their time. But one arrived just at the right moment: Sara Robotics.

“Sara is the perfect example of our mission, using technology to create real impact. Care institutions like TanteLouise and Maasduinen joined us in pilot programs. During COVID, Sara became a bridge between technology and human interaction.”

A culture of ownership and curiosity

What sets Bright Cape apart is its culture of curiosity, trust, and involvement.

Serge: “We believe in giving ownership as low in the organization as possible. Team leads were given major responsibilities from the start. No micromanagement, just trust and freedom. That philosophy has taken us far.”

Despite changes and growth, like the spin-off of Pipple in 2017, people joining and leaving, and the impact of COVID, the core culture remained strong: people-focused, content-driven, curious, innovative, and solution-oriented.

Change and specialization

With the arrival of new strategic partners and domain experts in 2020 and 2021, Serge gradually shifted his role. In 2023, he stepped down from daily leadership, remaining active as founder and shareholder.

Today, Bright Cape focuses on helping clients become more data-driven and data-mature, always with the latest technologies and the smartest people we can find.

Bright Cape has evolved into a professional organization, but the spirit of curiosity is still very much alive. This professionalization is reflected in dedicated departments, clear processes, and a solid company structure.

What stands out after 10 years?

Serge doesn’t have to think long: “The people. We’re proud of the people who work here and choose to be part of our story. The feeling of building something together, that might just be our greatest source of pride.”

Bright Cape symbolizes the courage to explore, to go on an adventure, and to use technology to make the world a better place.

Or, in Serge’s own words: “Don’t ask for permission, but for forgiveness. Face your problem. Be curious.”

Here’s to the next 10 years!
