Applied Data Science Bootcamp

Introduction

Do you want to take your organization to the next level by learning how to set up and execute data science projects? Are you eager to adopt data-driven approaches at work? Are you done with theoretical data science and would you rather know what your company really needs? Then the Applied Data Science course is for you! In this 3-day bootcamp, developed by Bright Cape in collaboration with EIT Digital, you can immediately start hands-on with the data from your own company.

Is this course for me?

The course is designed for professionals with roles such as data analysts, business analysts, logistics analysts, marketing managers, financial analysts and product owners that are looking to future-proof their careers by adding data analytics to their skillset. Experience in using dashboards and creating charts in Excel is expected in this training. Experience with programming and working with databases is a plus, but not necessary for following the training.

Through a mix of one-on-one coaching, hands-on activities, and group learning, you will set up and execute your own data science project (decision-makers have the option to only attend this part of the course). You will also learn how to use predictive analytic-solutions and intelligent applications to solve real problems.

What will you gain?

This course starts by laying a foundation in data science, including covering such topics as:

  • Using the Team Data Science Project (TDSP) methodology
  • Data cleaning and visualization
  • Process mining
  • Linear regression
  • Machine learning
  • Classification

With the knowledge and experience gained during this bootcamp, you will be well-positioned to redefine your organization’s approach to problem-solving. You will also have the confidence to ask the right questions, identify the most pressing problems, and implement data-based solutions.

Furthermore, by being able to clearly articulate your approach to your colleagues, you’ll get them to buy into using data science, thus creating a culture of data across your organization. As a result, your company will soon be benefiting from the full power of data.

Registrations

The Applied Data Science Bootcamp will take place on 19, 20, and 21 October 2022. All participants will also receive an individual session with the trainer. For more detailed information about the bootcamp and for registrations, please visit our collaborating partner EIT Digital.

Lecturers

The Applied Data Science Bootcamp is taught by four of our knowledgeable and skilled Data Scientists. Jef, Daan, and Remco come from diverse backgrounds and each bring a unique perspective to your learning experience.

Jef van den Buijs

Jef is a Data Scientist that has been working at Bright Cape for two years. Before starting his working career, he conducted research at Bright Cape as part of his master’s thesis. As part of the research, the inspection policy of a production process was optimized using a quality prediction based on a machine learning algorithm. In the last two years, he has been working on different aspects of the data science landscape for a dominant company in the high-tech industry, creating multiple business intelligence dashboards and tools, running a number of process mining projects, setting up data pipelines to automatically retrieve relevant data, and helping on numerous prediction models. Jef’s goal is to use data science knowledge to industrial engineering problems, while always having the focus on the actual added value for the business.

Daan Salome

Daan helps companies in their journey to become data-driven and has worked as a Data Scientist & Project Manager at several innovative products. With a background in applied mathematics and an interest in developing practical data science applications, his expertise lies in the machine learning domain and in explaining complex data science concepts in a simple and structured manner. Having broad experience in computer vision, predictive maintenance, logistics, insurance models, and customer due diligence allows him to illustrate this theory using many concrete use cases.

Remco Theunissen

Remco works as a Data Scientist & Project Manager at Bright Cape. With a background in industrial engineering, combined with business information systems, he is especially interested in the practical applicability of data science solutions and the value these bring to organizations. Remco has gained a broad experience in a multitude of data analytics implementations in a variety of industries, from high tech to telecommunications, such as Dashboarding Specialist of a worldwide statistical process control implementation, supporting a process mining rollout, and Project Lead and Product Owner of an innovation project in the area of anomaly detection. The translation from analytics to insights and value for the business is one of the areas in which he excels.
